The ST-NG1 is a miniature wall and surface mount random noise generator from RDL, suitable as a reference noise source for audio measurements. Additionally, the unit can be used as a masking noise source in engineered sound, or for counter-intelligence applications, particularly where true random noise (occupying the full bandwidth from 20Hz to 20kHz) is required.
The ST-NG1 produces no repetitive frequency or amplitude pattern, unlike digitally-generated pseudo-random noise generators, which can be decoded and removed by effective intelligence equipment. Limiting circuitry controls extreme peak levels in the audio, while still delivering random variations of at least 20dB.
Four outputs provide a microphone-level and line-level output from each noise source, with separate and independent gain-trimming potentiometers provided. Each output is balanced low-impedance, and may be wired either balanced or unbalanced, and all outputs can be used simultaneously.
